What To Expect On Your First Visit

  1. Consultation & Health History Review

Your first visit begins with a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Stacy Aslan, DC. During this time, he will review your completed intake forms and take time to understand your health concerns, current symptoms, and personal health goals. This conversation helps Dr. Aslan learn about you as a whole person—not just your symptoms—so that any recommendations are tailored to your specific needs.

  2. Complete Chiropractic Examination

Following the consultation, Dr. Aslan performs a thorough chiropractic examination. The Gonstead system is known for its thorough evaluation process, which includes several specific components:

    • Visualization (Postural & Gait Analysis): Dr. Aslan observes your posture and how you walk to identify any imbalances or asymmetries that may be contributing to your condition.
    • Instrumentation: Using a specialized instrument called a Nervoscope, Dr. Aslan measures temperature along both sides of your spine. This device detects uneven heat distributions that can indicate inflammation and nerve pressure. The instrument is guided down the length of your back and feels like two fingers gliding along your spine.
    • Static Palpation: Dr. Aslan uses his hands to feel for changes in contour, muscle tone, texture, and temperature along your spine. This helps identify areas of tension or misalignment.
    • Motion Palpation: Dr. Aslan assesses how well your spinal joints move by having you perform specific movements. This helps identify areas of restriction or discomfort.

Standard neurological, orthopedic, and physical tests—including reflex and flexibility testing—are also performed as part of this complete examination.

  3. Diagnostic Imaging (X-Rays)

Depending on your specific condition, full-spine X-rays may be taken. The Gonstead system relies heavily on full-spine X-rays, including anterior-posterior (A-P) and lateral views. These images provide critical insight into your spinal alignment, help identify any underlying issues, and allow Dr. Aslan to develop a precise and effective care plan. If you have recent X-rays, MRI reports, or other medical records related to your condition, please bring them with you.

  4. Report of Findings & Personalized Care Plan

Once all information is collected and examinations are complete, Dr. Aslan provides a detailed report of his findings. He will review your spinal X-rays (if taken) and explain your condition in clear, understandable terms. Together, you will discuss a personalized care plan, including recommendations for visit frequency, at-home care, and any supportive therapies that may benefit your recovery and overall wellness. This is also your opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your condition or recommended care.
